Cooperative Veterinary Care (CVC) is designed to help animals learn to participate confidently in thier veterinary examinations and procedures. Each session is designed around social cognitive animal training (SCAT) principles, helping animals, young and old, learn through connection, choice, and experience.

Cooperative Veterinary Care Training Outcomes

  • Attention and Check-Ins: teaching your pet to voluntarily look to you for guidance
  • Emotional Regulation: helping your pet remain calm and responsive in stressful environments
  • Social Cognitive Learning: learning without frustration, fear, or over-arousal
  • Foundational Skills: veterinary exams and procedures
  • Environmental Confidence: building resilience and trust

A Different Approach to Pet Care

This training approach focuses on developing a dog or cat that can think, adapt, and stay connected to you, even in complex environments.

Although I use food as rewards within the learning process, I give the reward after the animal has chosen to offer a behaviour. This allows behaviours to emerge through choice, understanding, and engagement, rather than dependence on visible rewards.

That difference is what defines SCAT training, and it is what makes learning fun, lasting, and adaptable.
